Bill Tong´s work: and that is honesty. Yes, he is the master at getting the right and true moment when eroticism explodes between two bodies, a single self or anything that gets in his way, and the best of all is that he can do it beautifully.
His images are pretty, classy, elegant, but very kinky, full of sexual energy, rage, despair, crazyness and lust. You don´t get fooled, you get what you are looking for.

| 1.- Through the years you have developed an style,perfectioned it, Tell us a little about this process?
It's very simple in fact. I work like a war reporter, like a witness. I give no instructions (well, sometimes, I do), I use available light and I try to be nearest the action ! When people I'm shooting forget that I'm shooting, they really start to give what I want : their libido. When they slide from human self control to animal abandon, the pictures start to please me, and sometimes, they are good. |

2.- You are a young artist, but your work has the virtues of elegance, maturity and sobriety, Which where your early influences, those early ones that started the fire in you?
Well, thank you ! My early heroes, as a kid, were war reporters, like Robert Capa and Stanley Greene (at that time, I did'nt know their names but I was fascinated by their photos). They were where they should not be and brought back images that nobody would have seen if they not have taken the risk to be there.
Adolescent, I was a more regural reader of "Penthouse Magazine" than "Rock and Folk Magazine", I discovered Roy Stuart, Tony Ward, Jan Saudek, Pierre Molinier and Serge Gainsbourg (as a photographer), and I decided to take a camera rather than a guitar to attract and seduce girls..
Nowadays, my work have 4 mainly influences : Henry Miller, Edward Hopper, David Lynch and Sarah Moon.
I do also like the work of Antoine D'Agata and David Lachapelle.
And my master in erotic photography is Laurent Benaïm. |

3.- Sex, porn, eroticism, adult entertainment,explicit material… it dosen´t matter how we call it, Do we really are getting closer to art?
To be honest, I don't care. I just produce images (and also texts) in a compulsive matter about what seems to be, according to me, the most powerful and true confrontation between human beings : sex.

I let the decision wether it is art, eroticism or porn to the one who look at my work.

I just try to built something that please me, as an author more than as an artist.
-
My only motivation is my own satisfaction.

That' s why I really do need feedbacks and critics from others eyes and sensibilities !
And I read once that porn is when you make money with sex ! I'd like to be judged porn more often !

4.- Living in Paris gives you something extra to your work?
Not really.
To produce images, it's true that there are in Paris many places, private or public, where I can easily find sex.
But in fact, my models come from everywhere, and statistically, they are often from Belgium !
And you know, when you deeply looking for it, you can find sex everywhere, even in Iran I'm sure !
To show (or sell) my works, Paris and France are definitively not the right places !
It works better in Germany and Switzerland, and in the United States, and now, in Mexique I hope, thanks of you ! |

| 5.-Has any one told you with a surprise in his-her face: I didn´t know you take naked pictures for a living…. Eh… I never knew… they where so beautiful?
(smile) I have some fans, I guess ! My first fan is my wife by the way. But I also guess that many people dislike my pictures because they are too hard and not really in the mainstream of a "naked picture". |

6.- Every body has a guilty pleassure, Which is Bill Tongs guilty pleassure?
(smile again) Sometimes, I'm not just behind the camera..! |

7.- Does music or other artistic expressions influence your work?
Well, i'm always listen to music while i'm shooting and while i'm editing images. So I guess music influences my work.
There is a big link between my work and cinema as I like to tell story with 2, 3 or more images in the same composition.
By the way, I have the project to make bill tong videos, if you see what I mean.
And I hope one day I'll have the opportunity to make a complete « libido » movie. |

8.- Which has been the best advice someone told you about being an erotic artist?
You know, I make pictures since 20 years and I show them since 5 years only !
The first people I showed my work was the erotic photographer Laurent Benaim. He told me : « what you do is great, let's show it ! » and he offered me my first exhibit.

9.- Which is best… a blonde, a brunette, or a dark skinned beauty?
(smile again and again) Well, every woman is so sexy to me you know ! I do love all of them : fat, thin, tall, small tits, big butts... : I don't care as long as they show what I wanna see : their sexuality.
And every woman do have a sexuality ! Every woman can behave like a cat, a wolf or a dog - every adult woman knows what I mean by the way ;o) - and that is those behaviors that I'm looking for.
But, to be very honest, I prefer brunette beauties, cause, according to my own experience, they are often as free as nasty ;o)
And I love free nasty girls ! |

10-Please Bill, tell us your inmedeatly plans…
Well, two Bill Tong exhibits are progammed. One in April in Paris at the Concorde Gallery. And one in July in Arles (France) during the « Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie »
And I'm working on my second book. It will be some stories about women ready for everything...
It will be launch in a few months (june I guess) by « les Editions du Chat Soleil »
I'll tell you more when the book will be ready to come out.
