1. Bobbi, please tell us what does exactly a music librarian do?
Music schools don't have normal libraries. A lot of what's in a music library is music, because obviously listening to performances is a very big deal to someone who's going to make that his or her life, and sheet music. That isn't to say there aren't any books — there's a lot of weighty tomes about music theory, biographies of musicians and composers and other, very arcane and esoteric subjects.
I know what you're wondering at this point — was I the naughty librarian? Sort of. For most of the time that I was in school, I was pretty inexperienced and not very interested in sex. Chances are I would have been the sort of librarian that told you to be quiet and not to browse porn on the library's internet connection. |

2. You are a very adventurous girl, have you discover some new cool fetishes?
One of my last boyfriends in music school shot for Kink.com and he's a big reason why I got into porn. He got me curious about the industry and it was out of this curiosity that led me to pursue a career in adult.
My first couple of shoots were for Kink, so I was introduced to BDSM, S/M, bondage, and electrical play. All of this was new to me when I started because again, I didn't have much in the way of sexual experience. I started out subbing, but after a few years they let me Dom some of the performers that came in, and I enjoy being a top and being a bottom. It depends on my mood — I suppose that makes me a switch.
But most of the shooting I do is in Los Angeles, and there's not much fetish work there. I've done a lot of anal shoots, and I found out that when it's done right, it's really enjoyable. So anal sex is something I discovered and now enjoy.

3. Am I wrong or you have something on your heart for Horror and B/Movies?
You're right, I do enjoy horror and B movies a lot. I'm amazed by what a dedicated director can do with a limited budget. When you watch the first movies the biggies of the genre made — I'm talking about Dario Argento, John Carpenter and George Romero — they all made amazing films despite the money they were working with or even what people thought of horror at the time.
As someone who's learning about directing and shooting, it's very inspiring. I'm going to start shooting for my site, BobbiStarr.com, and in a way I'm hitting the same walls they did. My scenes are self-funded so it's not like I can always shoot at my first choice of locations or have access to all the equipment I'd like. I also want to shoot something different, something that goes against the grain of the porn that's being made now. But if there's passion, there's a way. |

4. - If you were in the position to defend porn in front of some angry feminist you will start with…
I'd ask why they're so afraid of sex. The problem I've usually run into when it comes to anti-porn feminists is that they equate any kind of male-female sex as being symbolic of male dominance over women. They think that all porn is degrading and that any woman who takes part of it is some kind of victim that needs to be uplifted.
However, I consider myself a feminist, albeit one that's pro-sex. I believe that sex is empowering and that sex doesn't have to be representative of a male-female power dynamic. The sex industry is one of the few businesses where women make more than men. I'm not saying it's perfect, but if you want to talk about an industry where the typical sexual roles are reversed, and men have to work that much harder to make as much as a woman or to even be noticed, it's straight porn.
I am in control of my own sexuality, and I choose to be in this business. I make a very good living by being an empowered woman. What about any of this could they find offensive, unless they themselves have a hang-up about sex? |
5. - You love music in general, but why classical as your first choice?
I gravitated toward the oboe at an early age and I was very lucky to have a very good instructor when I started. The oboe is an integral part of classical music and in almost any classical ensemble, you'll find an oboe player. So I played a lot of classical music and it just grew on me. You start finding out the stories behind these symphonies and the eccentricities of the composers who wrote them and it opens up a whole new world. |

6. - Tell me something really cute about you and something really nasty?
Something really cute: My mom makes the jam I use on the gluten-free bread I make for myself that I take with me before I go to a shoot. Yes, I am very domestic. Something really nasty: The best time I had on set was Rocco Siffredi dunking my head in a toilet while he was fucking me in the ass. |
7. - Your favorite books are?
Wow. Hard question. I read a lot. I have a whole wall full of books, and I live in a pretty small place with a weird layout, so being able to keep and maintain the book collection I have is saying something. Obviously, I'm interested in sex and sexuality. I just read a book that a friend let me borrow, The Encyclopedia of Unusual Sex Acts. For example, did you know squicking means fucking an eye socket? That means at some point, someone had to have done it and needed a word to describe it. That's just strange, even for me.
I'm also a big fan of Charles Bukowski. I've been to his grave a lot, but I don't get out and go to his haunts as much as I'd like to. I mean, you live in a place like Los Angeles, and you never have time to go out and be a tourist. |
|
8. - Have you ever been in the position where you suddenly find that you were really in love with someone you were performing?
No. When I go to work, it's work. I don't show up on set to find a boyfriend.
I do know of some performers who've dated the guys they've just had sex with on a set. If that works for them, more power to them. But that's never worked for me. I don't feel any intimacy with the men I work with when I'm on set. In fact, having sex on camera is kind of a clinical experience. You're not shooting to feel good and get off, you're shooting to get the best angle for the camera. Sometimes you do orgasm, but that's not the point.
What's more important is that if I fall in love with someone, I need intimacy. Like I said, the set is far from an intimate environment. |
9. –In your personal opinion, what you would change of modern porn?
There's a dismissal of what women can or want to shoot. There's a belief that it'll be all softcore and mushy. So it's really hard for a woman to get a shot directing. But if you take a look at the women who do shoot — Mason and Kimberly Kane in particular — they're some of the most hardcore directors shooting, and are far more nastier than their male counterparts.

10. - The worst pick up line an erotic model can get is?
It's a tossup between telling me how big your dick is or how you want a private audition to get into the business. Seriously, I've seen it all when it comes to dicks and I've worked with the best men this business has to offer. If you want to impress me, I have a very high hurdle to clear.
