1.- After so many years of rocking in different places, situations, and stages? Which gig has been the most memorable?
One of the most memorable is Heavy Sounds Festival 1983 in Brugge Belgium. We had just played the Reading Festival in England and our next gig was Belgium. When we arrived we found out we were listed as a surprise on the festival. No one knew we were going to be playing. Lemmy was there and he was in a hot air balloon above the crowd throwing out festival towels. Some of the other bands were Viva...Barbara Schenker’s band as well as Gary Moore and Golden Earing. We went on before Gary Moore and as we set up our backline the chrowd began to realise who was going to be playing. They started into chanting Anvil. It was an incredable experience to realize exactly who our core audience was. It seems that in that part of Europe we were very popular. We had no idea at the time and if anything was a surprise it was that our fan core base was in Belgium!! The gig went excellent and we did two encores which is very unusual at a festival.
2.- Despite everything! you always have been a prolific band… Which are your favorites from the entire Anvil Collection?
I have favourite songs not complete albums. In time that’s what always happens. Of course I wouldn’t have writen anything I don’t like but I do have favourites. Forged In Fire, Mothra, Winged Assassins, 666, This is Thirteen, Computer Drone, Race Against Time, Bushpig...
3.- Have you ever been in a punch fight because
of Heavy Metal?
I have never been in a fight over heavy metal. I have friends who have...such as Mad Dog Colin Brown who got in a fight over Motorhead being better than Venom. The two guys were driving in a car and pulled over to get into a fist fight at the side of the road.
4.- Whats more important to continue in rock and roll: luck, good humor, or talent?
I think you need all three in order to stand a chance. I think in the order you listed!! LUCK, Humor...talent. The most talented bands usually will encounter the most problems as they carve the way for the rest. |

5.- Tell us a horny-rock and roll groupie crazy story… Anvil style.
In a band you get to live out all your sexual fantasies.
In my case when I was younger and a lot less married!!! Japan and Quebec have the hottest groupies. Needless
to say as the case with most men...go for it!!! If you really
need to know the details I never kiss and tell....
6.- We know Anvil has suffered, but now in this present… what do you do to have a good time?
To say I’ve suffered would be totally incorrect....I’ve enjoyed my life and am very proud of that. Anvil may not have been the biggest band in the world but we’ve loved our carreer. Suffering would be not putting out records and not touring and we’ve never been in that situation. I’m very grateful to the hard core following we’ve had over the 30 plus years. Our European fans have made our exsitance possible
and we have remained true to them all threw the years.
7.- Big names in Rock and Metal recognize the inffluence of Anvil in hard music, you have a crazy tale to tell and a lot of die herd fans…. What´s more for the Canadian Beast: Anvil?
My personal motto has always been and always
will be “FUCK MONEY, GIMME METAL” and more
is what the world will get...
8.- Besides Metal what other genres do you like?
Big band swing...Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw...Buddy Rich, Gene Kruppa.
9.- Robb likes to paint…. Tell us more about it?
Robb is a pure artist...he won’t sell his paintings. He paints for his personal enjoyment and doesn’t want to make it into a business.
10.- Tell us your next gigs and everything
for the fans of Anvil.
We have a lot coming up in the next while....Conan O’Brian show...That Metal Show, Loud Park Festival in Japan,
7 gigs with Saxon in the U.K., Soundwave Festival
in Australia in February. It’s all good!!!
