By The Reverend AK-47.

It was the dawn of 2001 when I first had a copy of Bizarre in my hands, I have always been fascinated with shocking photos and weird stuff, but they always came from some real shitty publications. For me seeing such a good coverage and photo quality in the bizarre, weird and in the unexplained made me fall in love with the magazine.

Through the years Bizarre has featured the most intense and well documented cases of the alternative journalism world. But always with the capacity of bringing a good laugh from the reader, and leave you wondering how many shit is going unnoticed, virgin to our minds, and unreachable for us, the common people. Maybe we will never be ready to know the answers, but hey! It’s good to know there is some who is doing it!

From Freaks, to Serial Killers, to Porn, to Horror, to Alt. Girls, to Shocking Pics, everything you need for good kicks it’s here! Bizarre is simply an unafraid publication that is always giving edgy stuff to its fans and never disappoints. So visit the site www.bizarremag.com and feel what a rock and roll publication is. Also read our interview with Kate Hodge Deputy Senior of Bizarre and find more about it.

1.-You have covered a lot of bizarre-fetish and weird news, after all this years, how do you keep the interest?
Kate Hodges: We haven’t all been working here for the last ten years! Many people have passed through the hallowed portals of Bizarre Magazine. So that keeps it fresh. And we’re just all hungry and curious!

2.-Now that these subjects are more common do you feel that Bizarre helped open this kind of stuff to regular people?
Kate Hodges: It probably played a part. As, of course, the internet did. People are used to being able to see anything they want at the click of a mouse now. Which makes it harder for us to find things that people haven’t see, or that shock them or make them laugh.

3. With all this hype about fetishism, bizarre and weird stuff, don’t you think now is more difficult to find good stories, artists, porn, etc…?
Kate Hodges: There are always more crazy people to find. We just have to be faster to get to them first!

4. - Which was the craziest rumor you have heard about the magazine? (There has to be one)
Kate Hodges: That people pay to be in it!

5. - Even though you have featured a lot of subjects in the magazine, which are the ones you feel need more coverage?
Kate Hodges: Not sure that anyone actually needs more coverage. We’re always looking for more real-life freaks such as Tree Man and Zombie Boy though! Get in touch with us if you find someone good!

6. - For you, which is the difference between good alternative journalism and cheap press?
Kate Hodges: Our stories are stringently researched – we never print something that’s not true to the best of our knowledge. We try and stay impartial and unbiased as far as we can, which is difficult in a lot of stories we cover.

7. - Have you ever been in an awkward or dangerous situation working for Bizarre?
Kate Hodges: Not personally, but people like Alix Fox and Denise Stanborough go far and beyond the call of duty sometimes. Alix has sword swallowed, gone cat fighting and been fitted with fangs, Denise has been covered in gunge and dressed as a man for a day.

8. - How do you differ between a good story or some shit that later you realize was a lie?
Kate Hodges: We don’t print lies. It really really doesn't happen very often. I can’t remember an example…

9. - Do you receive a lot of psycho mail?
Kate Hodges: We have some great readers, some amazing and interesting people. Some of them are a little left-field, and we get the odd strange letter or call, but we love them all. Alix once got a call from a man who told her he was going to cut off his foreskin, swallow it, fish it out from a toilet bowl and then re-attach it. That was a good one. We get the occasional conspiracy theorist.

10. - What does the future holds for Bizarre?
Kate Hodges: Onwards and upwards!
Our social networking site, YourBizarre (www.bizarremag.com/yourbizarre) is buzzing.
And our live events are doing really well.
There will be 3000 people at our Bizarre Ball this year!
